Lexington (Pa.) Surgery Center provided free surgeries for 15 patients as part of its monthly Surgery on Sunday initiative, according to a Lexington Herald Leader report.
Here are four things to know:
1. Sixty volunteers, including physicians, surgeons, nurses and administrative staff, volunteered for Surgery on Sunday on March 20.
2. The clinical staff performed numerous services including mass excisions, tonsillectomies, rotator cuff repair, gallbladder removal, hernia repair, carpal tunnel release and colonoscopies.
3. Andrew Moore II, MD, established Surgery on Sunday in 2005. Lexington Surgery Center became a partner and is now the home of Surgery on Sunday.
4. Lexington Surgery Center was one of the first 50 outpatient surgery centers in the United States.
