William Potthoff Jr., MD, joined the Garrett Eye Center in the Iron Mountain, Mich., according to an Iron Mountain Daily News report.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Potthoff is an ophthalmologist who attended the University of Michigan medical school. He completed an ophthalmology residency at the University Hospitals Case Western Medical Center.
2. He decided to pursue ophthalmology due to the specialty's mix of surgery and "longitudinal care" as well as a fascination with the eye's structure and function.
3. He has a special interest in complex and refractive surgery and micro-invasive glaucoma surgery with the iStent.
4. He has experience at the Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center and will continue as an attending physician there to train future ophthalmologists in cataract surgery.
5. Garrett Eye Center includes a femtosecond laser for bladeless cataract surgery as well as other technology.
