Saul Ullman, MD, of Pensacola, Fla.-based Baptist Medical Park Ambulatory Surgical Center, is using the Symfony Extended Depth of Focus Implant in his patients, the Pensacola News Journal reports. Here's what you need to know.
1. The implants will improve visual acuity at close, intermediate and far ranges.
2. Dr. Ulman has performed more than 40,000 implant procedures. His practice is limited to microincision cataract surgery.
3. Dr. Ullman earned his medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He had an internship at the Shands Teaching Hospital, in Gainesville, and his residency was at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He then had a fellowship in corneal and external disease at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.
4. Dr. Ullman has been in practice since 1987. He has authored several scholarly articles and textbooks.
He has also participated in clinical drug trials for infections of the eye and glaucoma.
