AMA President Dr. Steven Stack continues to meet with physicians around US: 5 highlights

American Medical Association President Steven Stack, MD, is making his way across the country to interact with a multitude of physicians and develop strategies to enhance healthcare, according to Rapid City Journal.

Here are five highlights:

1. Dr. Stack commented physicians have met his open letter to the industry about the opioid epidemic with praise. The letter called on payers to join in on the fight again the abuse.

2. He noted the industry is also facing an overwhelming amount of chronic illness cases.

3. Dr. Stack said physicians are in the middle of a continuously changing environment, pulling physicians away from patient face-time.

4. He also commented on physician burnout — the nation won't see happy and healthy patients if they are treated by unhappy physicians.

5. Dr. Stack is the youngest AMA president, at 44 years old.
