Nearly a third of physicians have between $1 million and $3 million in their retirement savings, according to 2013 Report on U.S. Physicians' Financial Preparedness, by AMA Insurance.
The survey, conducted in December 2012, includes responses from 2,365 physicians.
The average retirement savings of physicians, according to the survey are:
• Under $100,000 — 17 percent
• $100,000 to $500,000 — 24 percent
• $500,000 to $1 million — 21 percent
• $1 million to $3 million — 27 percent
• More than $3 million — 11 percent
