Alpharetta, Ga.-based Surgical Information Systems Chief Nursing Officer Ann Geier, RN, shared four tips on ASC team leadership with the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses.
The insights she shared:
1. Be ready to learn. ASC leaders wear many hats. Their responsibilities include implementing infection control measures and preparing the ASC for an accreditation survey.
2. Prepare to teach others. ASC leaders should have a wide range of skills and may be asked to teach and mentor others.
3. Have a solid work ethic. ASC leaders should be willing to take on a wide range of tasks, including catching up on paperwork or helping out with cleaning.
4. Promote improvement. Leaders should be willing to take on additional responsibility and give others opportunities to grow.
