To improve their practice, physicians should consider utilizing successful business rules, according to Physicians' Money Digest.
Joseph Chiweshe, MD, uses four Toyota Production System tools to illustrate how physicians should manage their practices.
Here are our principles:
1. Tailor work as it pertains to outcome, timing, sequence and content. Practices that don't make their work specific often waste valuable time and resources.
2. Get rid of ambiguity when communicating with patients. When interacting with patients, make sure you are direct to obtain better outcomes.
3. Set a direct path to obtain patient outcomes. Utilize a team-based approach that follows simple guidelines on how to work with your colleagues to best serve patients.
4. Use evidence-based medicine. This approach will help deliver the best care to patients. Also, physicians are integral to a patient's care team as they are the coaches for the entire staff.
