Willow Creek Surgery Center has introduced laparoscopic bariatric procedures to Palestine, Texas, through a new partnership with Dallas-based bariatric surgeon Dirk Rodriguez, MD, according to a Palestine Herald report.
The first procedure, known as gastric sleeve, was performed at the center on June 4, with more procedures already scheduled. Jerrod Smith, vice president of operations for First Surgical Partners, said the convenience of the center's location and the quick recovery time make the surgery appropriate for Willow Creek.
"Patients don't have to drive elsewhere to have the procedure done, but can have it performed in the convenience of their own back yard," Mr. Smith said. "They can receive high-quality healthcare at a lower price without having to drive long distances."
