USPI, Hospital for Special Surgery partner to open Florida ASC: 5 things to know

United Surgical Partners International, a subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare, partnered with New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery to open an ASC in West Palm Beach, Fla., according to South Florida Business Journal.

Here are five things to know:

1. The new outpatient care and surgery center will be located near Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, which is also a Tenet facility.

2. HSS physicians will staff the new center, which will offer orthopedic surgery, diagnostics, rehabilitation and sports performance services.

3. The partners haven't released plans detailing the facility or when the groundbreaking will occur. However, Tenet Executive Chairman and CEO Ron Rittenmeyer expects the new facility to provide an orthopedic center of excellence for patients.

4. HSS President and CEO Louis Shapiro told South Florida Business Journal that HSS sees a high volume of patients from South Florida on an annual basis; the new facility will provide more local care for South Florida residents.

5. For the past eight years, U.S. News & World Report has ranked HSS No. 1 in orthopedic care. HSS also has outpatient orthopedic centers in New Jersey and Connecticut.
