University of Tennessee Medical Center and OrthoTennessee are partnering to open an orthopedic surgery center near the university's main campus, local NBC affiliate 10News reports.
What you should know:
1. The Knoxville-based organizations submitted a certificate-of-need application to Tennessee's Health Services Department Agency.
2. The center would be housed in an 81,000-square-foot, three-story building and could open within two years if approved.
3. The surgery center's physicians will provide hand and foot, arthroplasty and shoulder, hip and knee reconstruction, and joint and spine procedures.
