TriHealth, Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine become Cincinatti's largest orthopedic care providers with new facility — 5 insights

TriHealth entered into a development agreement with Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine to create an orthopedic hospital, the Cincinnati Business Courier reports. Both are based in Cincinnati.

What you should know:

1. TriHealth and Beacon will convert TriHealth's Evendale (Ohio) Hospital into an orthopedics-only facility. They expect the conversion will take around 18 months. The facility will provide both inpatient and outpatient care.

2. Beacon will remain an independent practice. Physicians will see patients at the newl facility and its own ASCs.

3. The agreement makes TriHealth and Beacon the largest providers of orthopedic care in Cincinnati.

4. TriHealth CEO Mark Clement said, "This agreement is a reflection of the future of healthcare – creating a conveniently located center of excellence to fuel innovation, improve outcomes and drive efficiency while reserving our tertiary care centers ... for patients with more complex needs."

5. Evendale Hospital's non-orthopedic surgeons will be transferred to other facilities.
