Winchester (Mass.) Hospital has received a special permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals to build a 31,200-square-foot surgery center, according to a report by the Winchester Star.
The hospital had hoped to build a 95,000-square-foot ASC this year but that project was appealed by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and neighbors, delaying its approval.
Winchester Hospital, which reported that its seven ORs are regularly booked, changed its plans in May and applied for the special permit for the smaller ASC, according to the report.
The hospital has not abandoned its plans for the larger project but will need to reapply for permits.
