Physician-owned hospital to close campus

Port Arthur-based Medical Center of Southeast Texas, an affiliate of Dallas-based Steward Health Care, will close its campus in Beaumont Feb. 2.

The closure of the physician-owned facility includes its emergency department and all hospital-related services, which will be relocated to the center's Port Arthur campus.

"We found that the Beaumont campus was severely underutilized given the needs in the region," a Steward spokesperson said in a statement shared with Becker's Jan. 25. "TMCST remains committed to serving the needs of our community at the Port Arthur campus, including world-class stroke and trauma care, our neonatal intensive care and our orthopedic services, while supporting our staff and providers."
