Ascension closed the outpatient surgery department at its Eagle River (Wis.) Memorial Hospital last Friday, according to local NBC affiliate WJFW.
The key details to know:
1. Chief Administrative Officer Laurie Oungst said the hospital is focusing on its core service offerings, including cardiac care, lab work and radiology.
2. Patients needing outpatient surgery will have to travel to other Ascension facilities, and the health system said it will help patients find care outside its network if needed.
3. Starting on Monday, the nurses at the hospital will begin offering wound care, IV therapy and injections.
