Ohio ASC to close, reopen as joint venture: 4 details

Sandusky, Ohio-based Firelands Regional Medical Center will close its ASC in June and reopen it in collaboration with NOMS Healthcare and Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, Ohio, according to the Norwalk Reflector.

Key details:

1. The new ASC, dubbed Erie Shores Surgery Center, is scheduled to open in either September or October in Sandusky.

2. While the Firelands Surgery Center is closed, its management company, Health Care Facilities Partners, will handle accreditation, licenses and in-network agreements for the new ASC.

3. The ASC's cases will shift to Firelands Regional Medical Center while it's closed.

4. Employees at the Firelands Surgery Center will shift to the main campus during the transition and will go on to work at the Erie Shores Surgery Center once it's opened.
