Nueterra has become an owner and manager of an existing joint-venture ambulatory surgery center between Michigan's Beaumont Health System and physician-investors, according to a joint announcement (pdf) from Nueterra and Beaumont Health.
Nueterra acquired a minority interest in and assumed day-to-day management of the ASC at the Beaumont Medical Center in Macomb Township, Mich., on Jan. 1.
Beaumont Health and the physician-investors retain equity ownership of the ASC.
"Our new relationship with Beaumont Health System is the result of Nueterra's focus on developing innovative strategies that help health systems achieve their long-term goals for growth and profitability," said Nueterra CEO David Ayers, in the release. "We are excited to work with Beaumont, a nationally renowned leader in surgical services, and with local physicians and the center's excellent surgical staff in the delivery of high-quality, efficient outpatient surgical care."
As an owner and manager, Nueterra will focus on adding surgeons to the ASC and reducing costs through the use of Nueterra's group purchasing contracts.
The Macomb Township ASC opened in April 2007. It provides outpatient general surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedics, ENT, GI, endoscopy and pain management.
