Concord (N.H.) Hospital has received approval from the state to expand and upgrade its day surgery center despite calls for a moratorium on new hospital construction from the state's governor, according to a report from The Telegraph.
Concord Hospital received a certificate of need from the Health Services Planning and Review Board to upgrade the center at a cost estimated at $11.5 million. The upgrade would add operating rooms, expanding existing ones and convert pre- and post-op waiting areas into private rooms.
Gov. John Lynch had asked for a moratorium on CONs, when proposing his budget, as a means to keep healthcare costs down, according to the report.
Construction is expected to take 20 months.
