Mount Sinai Queens opens $180M ambulatory pavilion — 4 insights

New York City-based Mount Sinai Queens opened its six-story, $180 million ambulatory health pavilion April 26, the Astoria Post reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. The health system's 140,000-square-foot ambulatory center expands its emergency department and outpatient services.

2. The center has six operating rooms, interventional radiology and robotic surgery suites and imaging technology.

3. New York City-based Icahn School of Medicine faculty will staff the outpatient surgical suites.

4. New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System President and CEO Kenneth Davis said, "For many years the Mount Sinai Health System has been transitioning to a new model of care, where we focus on keeping entire communities healthy and out of the hospital. The Mount Sinai Queens Pavilion is part of that transformation by delivering proactive care in an ambulatory setting."
