New York-based Montefiore Medical Center has opened a $152 million, 12-story surgery center built to serve around 300,000 patients annually, according to a report from the New York Daily News.
The 280,000-square-foot center has 12 operating rooms and a full-service pharmacy. It will have more than 500 employees, including 177 physicians and 77 nurses, when running at full capacity, according to the report.
The center was built in response to wait times of more than 30 days at Montefiore Medical Center, which are expected to be reduced to a matter of weeks as a result of the extra capacity, according to the report.
