Metro Health, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., is planning a joint venture with Community Health Systems, based in Franklin, Tenn., and the proposed transaction would affect a number of the health system's facilities, according to a MiBiz report.
The state's certificate of need review board will examine the proposal, which would transfer the assets of Metro Health Hospital and services to the new joint venture entity.
A separate letter of intent indicates the health system plans to transfer the ownership of an outpatient surgery center to the joint venture partnership, according to the report. Currently, the surgery center is jointly operated by Metro Health and Orthopedic Associates of Michigan in Grand Rapids.
