The third and final phase of Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Public Health — which opened in Los Angeles on Oct. 7 — will include an outpatient ambulatory surgery center as well as a pharmacy and specialty clinics, according to a Wave Newspapers report.
The Center for Public Health just completed its first phase of development, a new two-story, 31,000-square-foot facility designed to offer wellness services and target health issues that impact South Los Angeles.
According to the report, the third phase of construction will center around the Multi-Service Ambulatory Care Center, a four-story, 136,000-square-foot facility that will house an ASC. The existing center will continue to treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and chronic heart failure until the new ambulatory center is complete.
The Ambulatory Care Center is slated for completion by late 2013.
Officials expect more than 5,000 new jobs to be created in the community from the center once every step is finalized.
