Lee Health Coconut Point opens 163,500-square-foot outpatient center — 4 insights

Estero, Fla.-based Lee Health Coconut Point opened a 163,500-square-foot outpatient center featuring what is believed to be the first freestanding emergency department in Lee County, Fla., Business Observer reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. Patients previously had to be transferred to hospitals in Fort Myers, Fla., or Naples, Fla., for emergency medical services.

2. Lee Health's new emergency department has 16 exam rooms, nine rooms for short-stay observation and onsite ambulance transportation. The emergency department also offers telemedicine services.

3. The outpatient center offer an array of services, including imaging, physical therapy and women's health services.

4. It will house Lee Physician Group practices.
