WellStar Kennestone Hospital has decided not to build a surgery center in Woodstock, Ga., at this time, after submitting a letter of intent with the Georgia Department of Community Health in late October, according to a Marietta Daily Journal report.
The hospital filed a letter of intent to open a $23 million outpatient surgery center. Spokesman Keith Bowermaster said the hospital has elected not to file a certificate of need, which must be filed exactly 30 days after the letter of intent is filed.
The hospital will "continue to evaluate the market," Mr. Bowermaster said. The health system previously opposed nearby Northside Hospital's plan to replace its Canton, Ga., hospital with a new facility.
