Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners has announced a new partnership with Greenspring Surgery Center in Baltimore.
The partnership will introduce three new spine surgeons to the current orthopedic and pain surgeon ownership group, according to a news release from Blue Chip.
"The highly skilled ownership group of Greenspring recognizes that outpatient spine has outstanding growth potential and is an excellent fit at orthopedic-driven surgery centers," said Chris Bishop, senior vice president, business development for Blue Chip, in the release. "Our strategic and operational plan will help make a strong ambulatory surgery center business even stronger, allowing the surgeon-owners to remain focused on delivering outstanding patient care."
The 6,300-square-foot Greenspring Surgery Center opened in Jan. 2007 and has one operating room and two procedure rooms. It currently handles a range of orthopedic surgical treatments, including knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow and wrist arthroscopic procedures; ligament repair and reconstruction; shoulder impingement treatment; fracture care and carpal tunnel.
The ASC also handles pain management procedures including facet joint injections and epidural steroid injections.
"We chose to partner with Blue Chip based on its experience with outpatient spine and knowledge of the Maryland market," said Jon D. Koman, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, who serves as president of Greenspring Surgery Center. "We are confident that adding outpatient spine to our current mix of orthopedic cases and pain management procedures will help us grow our business and provide outstanding care to even more patients."
