Private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe raised $4.3 billion to invest in healthcare and technology companies.
Three insights:
1. WCAS will invest primarily in U.S.-based companies through WCAS XIII, an oversubscribed 13th private equity fund.
2. WCAS has recently invested in senior care, home health and pharmaceutical data providers. The firm's recent healthcare investment realizations include Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based U.S. Anesthesia Partners and Addison, Texas-based United Surgical Partners International.
3. Within healthcare, WCAS XIII will target the provider, specialty facility, payer services and IT subsectors.
