5 Recent Ambulatory Surgery Center Acquisitions & Partnerships

Though overall healthcare merger and acquisition activity decreased 9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to an Irving Levin Associates report, there were a number of ambulatory surgery center acquisitions and partnerships within the past month.

CNL Healthcare Properties, a real estate investment trust, acquired two medical office buildings in Coral Springs, Fla. The MOBs, adjacent to the Broward Health Coral Springs Hospital, are occupied by a hospital-owned ambulatory surgery center and the Digestive Care Physician Group.

Methodist McKinney Hospital acquired an orthopedics and pain management-focused outpatient surgery center in McKinney, Texas. The hospital will retain the surgery center's primary physicians.

Meridian Surgical Partners, LLC is pleased to announce that its Battle Creek, Mich. facility, Brookside Surgery Center, LLC, has partnered with Bronson Battle Creek, a subsidiary of Bronson Healthcare. This is the first hospital partnership for Meridian Surgical Partners.

Physicians Realty Trust acquired Great Falls (Mont.) Clinic Surgery Center for $4 million. The facility is now signed under a 15-year absolute, net master lease.

White-Wilson Medical Center assumed management of day-to-day operations at Emerald Coast Surgery Center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. The center's name will remain the same. A number of physicians are the principle owners of the center.
