More than $11.3 billion worth of healthcare mergers and acquisitions have transpired so far in 2019, according to David Kent Joslin, an adviser and radiology consultant with years of experience in the healthcare industry.
Five trends Mr. Joslin noted for the year:
1. Ambulatory surgery facilities and senior practices experiencing a high volume of M&A activity
2. Small, community-based hospitals and health centers partnering with large regional hospitals
3. Large regional healthcare facilities and hospitals participating in megamergers
4. Nonprofit healthcare systems acquiring for-profit health centers and hospitals to fill service gaps
5. Private equity firms accounting for most megadeals, national integrations and disruptive partnership models
