Here are 40 ASC acquistions that occured in 2013.
In 2013, Surgical Care Affiliates acquired Health Inventures, a national surgical and physician services company operating more than 20 ambulatory surgery centers in partnership with 10 health system partners. Foundation Healthcare, formerly Graymark Healthcare, acquired Foundation Surgery Affiliates and Foundation Surgical Hospital Affiliates. As a result of the acquisition, Foundation Health acquired non-controlling equity interests in 11 surgery centers in seven states.

Arizona
In July, Banner Health acquired full ownership of Union Hill Surgery Center in Glendale. The center was renamed the Banner Del E. Webb Surgery Center.
In August, Banner Health acquired full ownership of the ASC on the Banner Thunderbird Medical Center campus in Glendale, Ariz. The surgery center will become a hospital outpatient department.
In December, Northstar Healthcare announced its winning bid of $460,000 to acquire outpatient surgery center Brown Hand Center in Scottsdale, Ariz.
California
In January, NVISION Laser Eye Centers acquired Eye Surgery Center of Northern California and Meister Eye & Laser Center, both in Sacramento.
In November, NVISION Laser Eye Centers acquired Capital Eye Medical Group in Carmichael, Calif.
Connecticut
In July, Merritt Healthcare announced the majority ownership sale of Diagnostic Endoscopy Center in Stamford to AmSurg.
Florida
In March, MyLooks, a Boca Raton-based cosmetic surgery company, acquired four Florida surgery centers to expand its market presence.
Effective May 1, Compass Surgical Partners acquired an equity interest in Bay Area Physicians Surgery Center in Brandon, Fla.
In May, Newsom Eye & Laser Center in Tampa acquired Guggino Eye Center.
Illinois
In May, a group of 11 Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush physicians announced their intention to buy a 65 percent share in the Gold Coast Surgicenter in Chicago, for $1.95 million.
In June, United Surgical Partners International sold Elmwood (Ill.) Same Day Surgery Center for $1.4 million to Scott Borre, CEO of Instant Care Management.
In July, Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago announced intentions to buy the remaining 46 percent stake in the Center for Ambulatory Surgery at Swedish Covenant for $1.4 million.
In November, Edwards Hospital & Health Services acquired majority stakes in Salt Creek Surgery Center in Westmont, Ill., and Midwest Endoscopy Center in Naperville, Ill.
Kansas
In October, HCA Midwest Health System acquired a 51 percent ownership stake in Heart of America Surgery Center in Kansas City.
Maryland
In March, Merritt Healthcare purchased an interest in Central Maryland Ambulatory Surgery Center in Baltimore and assumed managerial responsibility of the center.
Massachusetts
In January, Good Samaritan Medical Center in Easton acquired North Easton Surgery Center.
In August, Saint Anne's Hospital in Dartmouth, Mass., acquired the ambulatory surgery-endoscopy and sleep centers of Hawthorn Medical Associates. After the acquisition, the hospital formed the Saint Anne's Hospital Ambulatory Care Center.
Missouri
In an agreement to purchase St. Mary Medical Center in Blue Springs, Mo., HCA Midwest Health System also acquired seven surgery centers in May.
New York
In May, St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie absorbed the Hudson Valley Center at Saint Francis, previously a joint venture outpatient surgery center.
Ohio
In January, TriHealth, based in Cincinnati, purchased two Ohio surgery centers.
Pennsylvania
In January, Physicians Endoscopy acquired a majority share in the Endoscopy Center of Bucks County in Newton.
In April, Crozer-Keystone Health System acquired the Surgery Center of Pennsylvania. The center was renamed the Crozer-Keystone Surgery Center at Haverford.
South Carolina
In November, Physician's Eye Surgery Center of Charleston (S.C.) joined AmSurg.
Tennessee
In October, Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics acquired Midtown Surgery Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Texas
On Dec. 24, Physician Partners of America announced the acquisition of Frisco Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Utah
Effective Oct. 1, Castleview Hospital acquired Eastern Utah Surgical Center. The center was renamed Castleview Hospital Surgery Center.
Wisconsin
In October, Aurora Health Care acquired Manitowoc (Wis.) Surgery Center.
Effective Dec. 31, St. Nicholas Hospital acquired Sheboygan (Wis.) Surgery Center.
