Here are three partnerships and affiliations that transpired over the past month and involve surgical centers:
Phoenix-based Retinal Consultants of Arizona entered into a partnership with American Vision Partners. The partnership creates the fourth-largest retina practice in the U.S. Through the partnership, Retinal Consultants of Arizona will continue to operate independently without any changes to its two ASC locations or staff. Retinal Consultants of Arizona has 25 satellite offices.
Victoria (Texas) Surgical Associates plans to become part of Victoria-based Citizens Medical Center after 64 years as an independent practice. Four physicians from Victoria Surgical Associates will become Citizens Medical Center employees as of Oct. 1 and form their own practice within the hospital.
EyeSouth Partners, a private equity-backed management company, partnered with eyecare practices Eyecare Associates in Metairie, La., and Lanoux & Associates in New Orleans. Eyecare Associates includes an outpatient surgery center in New Orleans, a laser eye institute and an optometry practice. Lanoux & Associates is led by two ophthalmologists, Scott Lanoux, MD, and Jay LaCour, MD.
