22 Proposed, Recently Opened or Expanded ASCs by Region

The following are ambulatory surgery centers with openings, expansions and proposals announced in the past month, by region. Announcements for each region are listed newest to oldest.

East
Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, N.J., began construction on a 57,000-square-foot ambulatory care center, which will offer endoscopy, gastroenterology, orthopedics and cardiology services

Buffalo Surgery Center in Amherst, N.Y., filed plans for a new, $1.2 million facility.

American Spine opened a new spine treatment facility and surgery center in Germantown, Md.

Kaleida Health and a group of 22 physicians plan to open the 16,000-square-foot, multispecialty Southtowns Ambulatory Surgery Center in Orchard Park, N.Y. A panel of New York State health officials voted down the project in early April, but Kaleida plans to appeal the decision.

 
South
ISPM ASC at Camp Creek opened in Atlanta, Ga. Pickens Patterson III, MD, and Rhee Miller, MD, perform interventional pain procedures at the surgery center. The center is affiliated with Interventional Management Services.

Adolfson & Peterson Construction has been awarded a contract to build the Park Hill ASC and medical office building in Fort Worth, Texas. The project is expected to reach completion in December.

Developers broke ground on the Park Hill MOB and ASC in Fort Worth, Texas, which will be complete December 2014.


West
Great Falls (Mont.) Clinic announced intentions to build a new facility in Great Falls.

This month, Providence Health Care plans to open its new outpatient surgery center and medical clinic in Spokane Valley, Wash.

The physician-owned Arete Surgical Center opened in Johnstown, Colo.

Developers broke ground on the Greater Long Beach (Calif.) Endoscopy Center.


Midwest
Hawthorn Surgery Center moved to a new facility in Vernon Hills, Ill.

Hennepin County Medical Center will build an outpatient surgery facility as part of an expansion in Minneapolis.

McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, Mich., purchased nine acres of land, which will serve as the site of a new facility housing an ambulatory surgery center.

OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital began construction on a new surgery center and medical office building, which is expected to reach completion in 2015.

As part of a $172 million renovation project, St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill., will open a new surgery center in June.

University of Minnesota Health broke ground on a $160.5 million outpatient facility, including outpatient surgery, in Minneapolis.

Summit Orthopaedics opened a facility in Woodbury, Minn., with 23 hour stays.

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center is set to complete its Center for Advanced Care, including an ASC, during summer 2014.

Surgicenter of Kansas City broke ground on a new 23,000-square-foot facility in Kansas City, Mo. The new surgery center is expected to be ready for occupancy in April 2015.

St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill. will open a new surgery center in June.

OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital has begun construction on a new surgery center and medical office building.
