Here are 13 ambulatory surgery centers that have recently opened, been announced or initiated expansion projects.
Albany (Ga.) Urology Clinic and Surgical Center has opened in a new, 18,000-square-foot facility. The new facility includes a 6,000-square-foot, two-operating room surgery center.
The freestanding Atlanta General and Bariatric Surgery Center opened in Johns Creek, Ga.
Bascom Palmer Eye Institute plans to build a new 19,800-square-foot ambulatory surgery center and medical office building in Naples, Fla. The new facility will replace its current, 2,400-square-foot facility.
Morton Plant Mease Outpatient Center has broken ground on the expansion of BayCare Ambulatory Surgery Center in New Port Richey, Fla. The expansion is expected to double the size of the surgery center.
Constitution Surgery Center East in Waterford, Conn., will move forward with a $3.5 million expansion project. The project includes a 2,500-square-foot second story, the addition of 6,000 square feet to the rear of the building and additional space for parking. The surgery center is affiliated with Constitution Surgery Centers.
Physicians Endoscopy and a group of North Carolina physicians received preliminary approval for the construction of the Greater Gaston Center. Pending final approval from the state, the two-room endoscopy center has a tentative opening date in summer 2014.
Greensboro (N.C.) Specialty Surgical Center received conditional approval for a $5 million expansion project. The project will include the addition 5,800-square-feet, renovation of 2,700-square-feet and a new procedure room. Greensboro Specialty Surgical Center is affiliated with Surgical Care Affiliates.
The OMNI Outpatient Surgery Center is tentatively expected to break ground in March. The facility will be a $4.5 million, 17,000-square-foot pain management surgical center.

Spectrum Orthopaedics broke ground on a new facility in Jackson, Ohio, that includes an ambulatory surgery center. The new facility is expected to reach completion in 2014.
