The rapid economic growth in India has resulted in a larger middle class and a growth in disease, such as diabetes, that plague wealthy nations, according to an International Business Times report.
This growth presents an opportunity for U.S. medical equipment makers who are accustomed to producing supplies for these diseases. The report names Calibra Medical, a California company developing an insulin-delivery patch; Flexible Medical Systems, a Maryland startup that developed a bloodless glucose-monitoring mechanism; and Tandem Diabetes Care, a California-based company that is marketing a newly approved diabetes pump, as companies that can benefit from the growing Indian market.
