Premier has added six ophthalmology product companies to its portfolio, a healthy showing that dispels concerns about a supplier exodus from GPOs following Medtronic's rejection of GPO contracts, according to a report by Mass Device.
Medtronic dropped more $2 billion worth of supply contracts with Premier and other GPOs earlier this year, prompting speculation that more med-tech companies would follow suit to escape the discounts that GPOs require.
But the exodus has not materialized. Premier's latest contracts follow two new cardiovascular contracts it announced at the end of May.
