Merge Healthcare, maker of medical imaging software, plans to acquire Ophthalmic Imaging Systems, maker of ophthalmology imaging software, for $30.3 million, according to a release by Merge Healthcare.
The acquisition will add ophthalmic imaging and informatics to Merge Healthcare's portfolio of imaging software for radiology, cardiology and orthopedics.
Demand for ophthalmic imaging software is rising due to an aging population, improved treatments and increased incidence of visual impairment, Merge Healthcare said.
