Medical Device Lobby Calls for 6 Changes in Federal Policy

Medical device industry lobby AdvaMed has called for six changes in federal policy to boost the industry and stop device-makers from migrating overseas, according to a release from AdvaMed.

AdvaMed's six recommendations are:

  • · Make innovation in life sciences a priority.
  • · Reform the FDA review process.
  • · Establish payment policies that support innovation.
  • · Change trade policies to provide a level playing field for domestic manufacturing.
  • · Implement tax policies that are fair to the device industry.
  • · Sustain and improve U.S. research and development.

"We know medical technology has a bright future," said Stephen Ubl, president and CEO of AdvaMed, in the release. "The question is: Will that future be made in America—or somewhere else?"
