GE Healthcare's new wide-bore 3-Tesla MRI machine, the Discovery MR750w 3.0T, received FDA approval yesterday, according to a news release.
The machine accommodates patients that are traditionally hard to scan — obese, elderly, claustrophobic and young patients — with its wide, 70-centimeter bore. The machine also includes the Geometry Embracing Method suite of coils and patient positioning table. This allows for feet-first imaging on all exams and follows the body contours.
The machine also includes LED accent lights on its sides for patient comfort, a 50-centimeter field of view for faster scans and OpticalRF technology that improves analog-to-digital conversion.
