Covidien has announced it is showcasing some of its newest surgical products at the American College of Surgeons annual clinical congress in Chicago, taking place through Oct. 4, according to a news release.
Products featured include the company's Sonicision cordless ultrasonic dissection device and the iDrive Ultra powered stapling system.
Sonicision is a cordless, hand-held, battery-powered ultrasonic dissection device indicated for soft-tissue incision and hemostasis. It is used in a wide variety of surgical procedures, including general, bariatric, colorectal, gynecological and urological. The iDrive Ultra powered stapling system is a fully powered reusable endostapler compatible with Covidien's portfolio of Endo GIA reloads.
"We are committed to bringing clinically relevant and economically valuable innovation to the global healthcare marketplace. We are delivering on this promise with the launch of Sonicision and iDrive Ultra," said Bryan Hanson, group president of surgical solutions for Covidien, in the release. "Sonicision and iDrive Ultra are unique, first in the industry and will have a significant impact on the way surgeries are performed."
Additional Covidien products being shown at ACS are the Endo GIA radial reload, AccuMesh positioning system, ProGrip laparoscopic self-fixating mesh, Parietex composite ventral patch, V-Loc wound closure reload for use with EndoStitch and SILS stitch suturing devices, Barrx ablation technology and the LigaSure 5 mm blunt tip portfolio.
Covidien has its U.S. headquarters in Mansfield, Mass.
