Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva, Israel, have announced the launch of a new collaboration aimed at addressing the lack of pediatric-specific medical devices, according to a news release.
Under the collaboration agreement, physicians from Cincinnati Children's will provide insight on specific medical device challenges and development opportunities to Ben-Gurion engineers and technology researchers who will work to match development opportunities with technical solutions.
"The project combines the medical expertise of physicians at Cincinnati Children's with the extensive technical and engineering capabilities of faculty at Ben-Gurion University," said Netta Cohen, CEO of BGN Technologies, the University's technology transfer company, in the release. "The pediatric sector of medical device development has been neglected throughout the years and only a small fraction of medical R&D funding has been devoted to pediatric medicine."
