Higher employee engagement and fewer workers' compensation claims are linked to an improved patient safety culture, according to a study in Journal of Patient Safety.
Researchers administered the Gallup Q-12 survey, which measures employee engagement, and a subset of questions of the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture to staff at a large tertiary academic medical center in 2007 and 2009.
