The report, "Can Publicly Reporting the Performance of Health Care Providers Spur Quality Improvement? Insights from Aligning Forces for Quality," includes six tips for engaging physicians in public reporting:
1. Involve physicians from the beginning.
2. Identify physician champions who will carry the message.
3. Encourage peer-to-peer learning.
4. Make quality improvement tools and resources easy to access.
5. Give physicians a chance to review their data.
6. Foster a climate that encourages transparency.
