The Joint Commission has released the 2013 Survey Activity Guide for Ambulatory Health Care Organizations.
The guide provides information to help prepare for the survey, an abstract of each survey activity and a list of sessions. While on-site survey activities and the survey process remain the same as the previous year, The Joint Commission made changes regarding the periodic performance review, individual tracer activity and leadership session.
The leadership session was changed to emphasize leaders' commitment to quality and safety improvement; a culture of safety; robust process improvement; and observations that may indicate system-level concerns, according to the guide.
