The outpatient surgery rooms at Minneapolis-based Hennepin County Medical Center's new $160 million specialty treatment center will offer providers a unique lighting setup, the Minnesota StarTribune reports.
Here's what you should know;
1. To accommodate surgeons and nurses who require different lighting requirements in operating rooms, the outpatient surgery rooms at the center will be equipped with LED lighting that changes from standard white to green.
2. The green lighting will allow physicians to optimally see patient anatomy on operating screens, and will also allow nurses to continue to see when the room is darkened.
3. HCMC spokeswoman Christine Hill said, "The green lighting gives [physicians] visibility but also is the ideal lighting in which to view TV images. It also does give the nurses some light when the room gets dark."
4. The specialty treatment center will increase system-wide outpatient capacity by 15 percent when complete.
