CDC: Meningitis Cases Climb to 169, Deaths to 14

The CDC and the FDA held another joint press conference for updates on a meningitis outbreak that stems from contaminated epidural steroid injections prepared at the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Mass.

Earlier this week, the CDC/FDA update showed the tainted injections caused 105 meningitis cases, including eight deaths. Those numbers have climbed to 169 cases and 14 deaths, as of yesterday.

The FDA and the Massachusetts State Board of Pharmacy are continuing its joint investigation of NECC as well its sister company Ameridose.
