ASCA recently sent a letter to CMS, providing comments on Medicare's quality reporting program for ASCs, contained in the agency's proposed 2013 inpatient prospective payment system rule.
The ASCA also sent a letter to HHS, providing feedback on the Department's draft report on eliminating healthcare associated infections across all healthcare settings.
ASCA noted its support for Medicare's proposed 50 percent threshold that would, for the first two years of the program, let ASCs be successful reporters if 50 percent of their Medicare claims contain the appropriate quality data G-codes. ASCA also urged CMS "to release the details of how it will publicly report ASC quality data as soon as is practical to allow the ASC community ample time to comment on and adjust to the agency's plan for public reporting."
