The Patient Safety Movement Foundation announced that the 4th annual Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit will take place in Dana Point, Calif., from Jan. 22 to Jan. 23, 2016.
Here are four notes:
1. At the annual conference, healthcare professionals, hospital executives, healthcare technology industry leaders, policymakers and patient advocates will gather to discuss new patient safety challenges and how to mitigate them.
2. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation, a nonprofit organization, has made a formal commitment to eliminate preventable patient deaths by the year 2020.
3. Approximately 200,000 people die due to medical errors every year in the United States, and these can be prevented.
4. At the summit, the foundation will also announce the three winners of the 2015 Patient Safety Movement Innovation Award.
