1. In a recent survey, 79 percent of people said they trust their local pharmacy for healthcare more than large retailers such as Walmart or Target. Four out of 5 participants said they would probably never visit a department store for care.
2. Walmart holds 2 percent of the retail health clinic market.
3. The Alice L. Walton School of Medicine in Bentonville, Ark. — founded by Alice Walton, daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton — appointed Ken Hopper, MD, Angela Pierce, PhD, and Quoc-Anh Thai, MD, to assistant dean positions.
4. Walmart announced the planned opening of four new health centers in the Oklahoma City area.
5. Walmart was found to be the fifth-largest pharmacy by revenue in 2022, earning $24.1 billion between its mass merchant, mail and specialty pharmacies.
6. Walmart and nearly 700 other companies received a warning from the Federal Trade Commission about the civil penalties they face for advertisements containing claims about products that cannot be backed up with reliable evidence.
