Hawaii has been crowned the happiest state in America for 2024, up from second place in 2023, according to WalletHub's annual "Happiest States in America" list, published Sept. 9.
To determine the happiest states, WalletHub measures 30 key metrics, ranging from the depression rate and the share of adults feeling productive to income growth and the unemployment rate. Read more about the methodology here.
