Tenet's rise to the top: 5 years of growth

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, parent organization of United Surgical Partners International, has seen enormous growth within the last five years.

Here is an overview of the health system's financial and outpatient growth in the last five years.

Annual adjusted earnings:

2019: $2.71 billion

2020: $3.15 billion

2021: $3.48 billion

2022: $3.47 billion

2023: $3.54 billion

Number of USPI ASCs

2019: 264

2020: 310

2021: 430

2022: 440

2023: 476

As of 2024, USPI manages 512 ASCs and 25 surgical hospitals across 38 states, continuing its reign as the largest ASC chain in the U.S.

Looking ahead, Tenet CEO and Chair Saum Sutaria, MD, is working to expand even further with plans to invest $450 million into its ambulatory business this year and aims to have 575 to 600 facilities by the end of 2025.
