Feedback is an essential aspect of an employee's growth within an organization as it allows them to see how their performance is progressing and where they need to improve, according to an Entrepreneur report.

Here are five tips for providing productive feedback:

1. Be civil when giving feedback — don't be mean-spirited.
2. Be positive.
3. Be specific.
4. Be immediate.
5. Start by asking his or her perspective on the situation.
