Outpatient market heats up in the Sunshine State

There have been several ASC, medical office building and group partnership developments in the state of Florida in the last month.

Here are eight updates on the outpatient care market in Florida, as reported by Becker's since July 22:

1. The city of Jacksonville is reviewing a permit application for a new $5 million ASC that would be located inside an existing building of medical offices.

2. A medical building with two surgery centers was completed in Fort Myers. The Surgical Healing Arts Center is on the building's first floor and the Metro Alliance Surgery Center is on the second. 

3. A medical office building in Lakewood Ranch sold for $31.8 million, with plans to build out an ASC space for the physician-owned Advanced Surgery Center of Sarasota.

4. A 24,000-square-foot medical office building is set for development in Jacksonville, which will be the city's first non-hospital facility in more than 20 years.

5. Investment firm Värde Partners and medical office real estate investment firm Unity Medical Properties partnered to acquire the Laser and Surgery Center of the Palm Beaches in Palm Beach Gardens for $14.5 million.

6. ShortPoint Medical opened a multispecialty facility in North Port.

7. ASC chain United Surgical Partners International inked a partnership with the Tampa-based Florida Orthopedic Institute in the second quarter of 2024.

8. Altamonte Springs-based AdventHealth is moving forward with plans to construct a medical office building and freestanding emergency room in Poinciana.
